HIERARCHS OF THE HUŞI DIOCESE WITH MONASTIC ASCESIS AT SECU MONASTERY
(Abstract)
Secu Monastery has long been a monastic center of profound spiritual life. Over time, it became the site of a school that nurtured Church servants endowed with solid spiritual and intellectual formation. From among its ranks emerged a notable group of bishops who went on to serve in the highest ecclesiastical office, leaving a significant mark on the history of the Romanian nation.
The Diocese of Huşi had the privilege of receiving eight hierarchs formed at Secu Monastery, who served the eparchy with dedication during turbulent times marked by profound social and political unrest.
Their lives, devoted entirely to the service of God and fellow beings, along with the moral virtues they embodied, led some of them to be recognised for their sanctity and subsequently canonised.
The deep connection with the monastery that had shaped them spiritually is further evidenced by the fact that seven of the eight hierarchs chose to return to Secu Monastery for their final resting place.
