ARCHPRIEST MIHAIL CEACHIR – A GREAT ENLIGHTENMENT SCHOLAR OF THE GAGAUZ PEOPLE

(Abstract)

               The article entitled „Archpriest Mihail Ceachir – a great enlightened scholar of the Gagauz” brings to the fore the complex personality of one of the most representative figures of Gagauz culture and spirituality in Bessarabia at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. Through his vast and diverse activities – educational, pastoral, missionary and journalistic – Mihail Ceachir made a decisive contribution to affirming the ethnic and religious identity of the Gagauz people in a historical context marked by political changes and pressures of assimilation.    

                Archpriest Mihail Ceachir was not only a devoted priest and enlightened teacher, but also a visionary scholar who understood the importance of language, faith, and culture in preserving the identity of a people. His work remains a fundamental milestone in the spiritual and cultural history of the Gagauz people.
